Terms of Service

Science Fair Guide ("we", "us") operates sciencefairguide.com — an AI-mentored science fair companion for classrooms and families. By creating an account, making a purchase, or using the service, you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy, our Refund Policy, and our Disclaimer, which are part of this agreement.

Accounts are for adults: teachers, parents, and school staff aged 18 or over. Students never create accounts — they access the service through a class code you give them, under your supervision (see section 6).

A purchased plan gives you a room: one class code that up to your chosen number of students can use. Students work through the steps of a science fair project with Dr. Curiosity, an AI mentor that asks guiding questions rather than doing the work. Your dashboard shows who has joined, messages sent, and credit spend, and lets you pause rooms, lock joins, manage students, and manage billing. Schools can share management between owners, teachers, and viewers.

Plans are prepaid subscriptions for a fixed term— 6 months by default, or 1, 2, or 3 years at a discount shown at checkout. A room is active until its term ends. When it expires, students can no longer join or chat, but nothing is deleted: your students, their work, and any unused AI credits stay exactly as they were, and renewing from the dashboard picks the class back up. Renewing early adds time on top of what's left — you never lose days by renewing before expiry.

Nothing auto-renews and we never store your card. Every charge is one you initiate through Stripe's checkout.

AI credits are a prepaid balance that pays for mentor chats, metered per message by actual usage. Credits never expire and unused credits stay in the room across renewals — but they can only be spentwhile the room's subscription is active. Per-student daily message limits and fair-share spending caps protect your balance from any one student draining it. When a room runs out of credits, chats pause until you top up — there are never surprise charges.

Payments are processed by Stripe; your card details never touch our servers. Displayed prices exclude sales tax, which is added at checkout where applicable. We may change prices for future purchases; a term you have already prepaid is never repriced.

Refunds work as described in the Refund Policy: fees (plans, renewals, seat upgrades) are refundable within 5 days of purchase, and unused AI credits within 30 days, self-serve from the dashboard.

The service is deliberately built so students never provide personal information: no accounts, no email addresses, no real names — just your class code and, optionally, a made-up nickname with a PIN. You (the account holder) are responsible for supervising your students' use, for telling students not to use real names as nicknames or share personal information in chats, and for obtaining any consents or approvals your school or district requires. • Don't share class codes beyond the group you bought seats for, or resell access.
• Don't attempt to make the AI produce harmful, hateful, or age-inappropriate content, or to extract its instructions.
• Don't probe, overload, disrupt, or reverse-engineer the service, or access it by automated means.
• Don't use the service for anything unlawful.

We may suspend or terminate access for violations. Where we terminate a subscription without cause on your side, we refund the unused portion of what you prepaid.

Dr. Curiosity's replies are generated by an AI model and can be wrong, incomplete, or oddly confident about both. They are educational guidance, not professional advice, and experiments should always be checked by a supervising adult. The Disclaimer covers this in detail and is part of these terms.

Students and their families own the project work they create. You grant us only the license needed to store and process it to run the service. Everything else — the software, design, mentor prompts, and branding — is ours, and no rights in it are transferred to you.

You can delete your account at any time from the dashboard. Deletion removes your name and email and signs you out everywhere; billing records are retained in anonymized form for legal and accounting purposes, as described in the Privacy Policy. Personal workspaces in which you are the only member are deleted with all their rooms and data. Schools with other members continue without you — you'll be asked to hand ownership to a colleague first if you're the last owner.

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for events beyond our reasonable control (including outages of the third-party AI and payment providers the service depends on). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

We may update these terms as the service evolves; material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date, and continued use after a change means acceptance. These terms are the entire agreement between us regarding the service. Questions — email us anytime (address below).
